The Corrosion Protection Principle of Heat Shrinkable Tape: Heat shrinkable tape acts like a waterproof coat for steel pipes-after heating, it tightly wraps around the metal surface, forming three layers of protection: an outer impact-resistant layer, a middle sealing and waterproof layer, and an inner bonding layer. Special Challenges of Applying Peel-Off Steel
When working with steel with a peel-off coating, the following points should be noted when applying heat shrink tape:
Surface Preparation: Residual coatings must be thoroughly cleaned, with a roughness controlled between 30-75 microns.
Temperature Control: The adhesive layer is activated when heated to 120-150℃; temperatures exceeding 200℃ will cause carbonization of the substrate.
Pressure Testing: After shrinkage, a pressure of 5 N/cm² should be used to test whether a continuous sealing layer has formed.
