Heat shrink tape is like the 'Transformers' of the industrial world, with its three core components each playing a specific role:

 

Base Layer: Typically made of cross-linked polyethylene or polyolefin, providing mechanical strength and shape memory, it shrinks back to its pre-set shape after heating.

 

Adhesive Layer: Composed of modified butyl rubber or epoxy resin, it melts to form a sealing barrier, effectively preventing the penetration of moisture and corrosive media.

 

Functional Coating: Commonly contains UV absorbers, antioxidants, and other additives to enhance outdoor weather resistance. Some products are laminated with aluminum foil to enhance impact resistance.

 

How do the components determine product characteristics? The material ratio is like a cooking recipe; subtle adjustments can change the overall performance. Increasing the degree of polyethylene crosslinking can improve the temperature resistance rating to 120℃.

 

For every 0.1mm increase in adhesive layer thickness, the peel strength increases by approximately 15 N/cm.

 

Fluoropolymer coatings can improve chemical corrosion resistance by more than 3 times.

 

Substrates with added glass fiber mesh can have tensile strength up to twice that of ordinary types.

 

Application Logic Behind Material Selection: Understanding the composition is key to using the right materials. Here are three practical suggestions:

 

For oil pipelines, prioritize adhesives containing polar groups to improve adhesion to metals.

 

In coastal areas, pay attention to the content of anti-salt spray additives in the coating.

 

In areas with large temperature differences, choose elastomer substrates with a wide temperature range (-30℃~100℃).
